I bought Finn almost 2 years ago, severely underweight and not well cared for. As he put weight on and we started to ride his behavior deteriorated and riding became too dangerous for me. He is a very anxious horse and was treated for ulcers in November 2025. I have been doing groundwork since November but have not been able to reduce his anxiety/increase his confidence enough to ride him. I don't know what happened in his past and I do not have the experience or skills to treat his trauma. I believe that he is saying that he cannot work anymore. He needs to retire to enough acreage that he can stretch his long legs, which I don't have, and he needs to be with at least one other horse, which I cannot afford. He is currently boarded at a local facility and is happiest in his stall with his neighbors close by. He is a total love when he is not scared or anxious. It is heartbreaking to see him suffer when he is. Finn needs a peaceful life with a friend in a pasture and maybe with an experienced horseperson who can help him relax and connect he could someday enjoy light work again. Although the vet proclaimed him sound, he has trouble taking and maintaining the right lead canter. He gets monthly bodywork and I use microcurrent once to twice a week. He has kissing spine which was x-rayed August 2025 and diagnosed as non-clinical. He is UTD on float, vaccinations and was just shod. He trailers, ties, is good for the farrier and vet, although gets nervous if things move too quickly. He raced until he was 3 (I cannot find his paperwork right now, so details are best guesses) and I don't know anything about his life before I bought him from a trainer/dealer.
