Home Grown and raised from birth, I even owned his Sire and Dam until their last breath. I have decided to find Spirit's Heart Mate. He will be turning 20 years old next year. He has been well cared for his entire life. He is extremely smooth gated. Has been lightly ridden since he was 3 years old, has lots and lots of miles on him. He has been ridden mostly on trails, some arena work on the fundamentals of dressage. I began the counter canter and shoulder in work. He is very light in his mouth, only have used a french link snaffle. Does well in a bitless bridal and my perfer it since he tends to chomp when in a snaffle when nervous. He has always been kept barefoot. He crossties and trailer loads. He does need a confident and experience handler simply because he can be a bit high spirited. I believe he would bond well with an intermdiate rider only they were being schooled by an experienced handler. He has never been pressured to do things only asked. He does love to learn new things and thrives on obstacles when rewarded with praise. I spent last summer for 5 weeks, every Sunday trailering him out for group trail rides with 4-6 riders. He loves to lead the trail, but will also be in the middle. Was willing to cross knee deep and even belly deep moving water. Was nervous going in, but trusted my guidance and the horse he was following. He does not bolt, buck or rear. Since last November he developed a tight muscle knot in his left hind hip point area. He has gotten better slowly with massage and Chiropractic treatments. He still wants to run and play in his nightly turnouts five days a week. It shows only in the walk, but does not affect his trot or canter.
