Bud is a 9-year-old (2017) Mustang gelding standing 14.3 hands. Born in the wild in Utah’s Blawn Wash HMA, he has been with the same owner since he was two years old.
Professionally started and trained, Bud has a solid foundation with hundreds of hours under saddle. He has been thoughtfully handled and developed over the years with an emphasis on good citizenship and functional biomechanics, including 18+ months of professional training between 2019 and 2024. Personality:
Bud is friendly, intelligent, alert and sensitive. Under saddle, he is naturally more “whoa” than “go.” He is a good boy who tries hard, is forgiving and responds well to clear, confident communication. He is relaxed and enjoyable in the arena and has been ridden both English and Western, with experience in introductory dressage, ranch riding and obstacles.
On the Trail:
Bud is a wonderful group trail horse. He has been on dozens of trail rides, crossed water, navigated hills and camped overnight. He does best with a balanced, steady group of horses and riders. On the trail, Bud is an alert and sensitive partner who looks to his rider for reassurance and leadership. He can be looky at times and needs a confident rider who can help him continue building confidence. More trail miles, exposure and consistency will help him continue to grow into his potential.
Reason for Selling:
This is a difficult decision, but with my busy schedule, I simply don’t have the time Bud needs and deserves right now. I’m looking for a wonderful home that can give him the love, attention, consistency and miles to continue building on the foundation he already has.
Bud would thrive in a steady riding program with regular handling, exposure and consistency.
Ideal Home:
Bud would be best suited for an intermediate to experienced horseperson with good horsemanship who enjoys group trail riding and has the time and desire to continue his journey. He is a wonderful, sensitive horse with a fantastic foundation who is ready to build a partnership with the right person.
Bud is NOT a beginner, first-time horse owner, husband, grandma or occasional weekend trail horse. He is not a finished, push-button horse. I want to be transparent about that because finding the right fit for both Bud and his future owner is very important to me.
