Hank is our beloved ~18-20 y/o draft cross. We purchased Hank about 2.5 years ago to be our beginner horse for our family. He is very friendly and sociable but was not as beginner friendly for riding as we had hoped. Hank has way more woah than go, and motivating him to be worked/ridden has been a challenge for us newbies. I don't believe he needs an incredibly experienced rider, but someone with an average amount of experience would be best for him. His favorite activities seem to be just following you around his pasture and getting attention and treats. He is barefoot and stands perfectly for the farrier. He walks on halter excellently as well, though sometimes he will run if he sees the halter coming. He does well in group turnout or solo. He is excellent at being tied, brushed/groomed/washed/shaved/fly sprayed/blanketed. He is very sensitive to flies and likes lots of fly spray as well as a fly mask. He loves his mineral block and he gets grain and MSM supplement daily. He does have some arthritis in one of his front legs as well. Due to life circumstances, inability to coordinate with a trainer to help, and lack of time that has developed in the last year, he has not been ridden in give or take 6 months. It breaks our hearts but he is so friendly and loves attention and we just don't have enough to give.
