Ares is a 5–7-year-old Morgan-type gelding originally purchased as a three-day eventing prospect. He is a kind, intelligent horse with potential for the right person who enjoys bringing along a young, inexperienced horse. Ares has made progress with his handling, and we have now been able to get into the saddle. However, he remains extremely green, and test rides will not be available. He should be approached with the expectation that he is barely broke to ride and still has a significant amount of training ahead of him. He is learning to accept the bit nicely and is doing well with a bridle without a browband. He is also standing well for the farrier, although he can still show some nervousness when his hind end is handled. Ares is a sweet horse who wants to connect with people, but he can be unsure and skittish. He will need continued groundwork, consistent handling, and a confident, experienced person willing to invest the time necessary to develop his confidence and training. He is not a beginner horse and is best suited to someone experienced with green horses and comfortable taking a project from the basics. He was originally purchased with eventing potential in mind, but he is not currently a finished riding horse and will need considerable development before being considered for any specific discipline. Due to an unexpected veterinary expense involving another horse, I am unfortunately in a position where I need to sell Ares. He is priced accordingly for his current training level and the work still ahead of him. Please be realistic about his current abilities when inquiring. Ares needs the right person, patience, and continued education to help him reach his potential.
