Urneypark Shutterfly - Ernie 2014 17hh ISH gelding I bought and imported him as an 8 year old who’d just finished a season at 2*/preliminary. As a young horse Ernie had shown straight jumpers upto 1.25 meters. In the last 4 years, he’s run countless trainings (a meter) all over the country, dabbled around at the modified level (3’5”), and shown through 2nd level dressage. Last November he won the War Horse champs at the modified level. Although, he can be a bit quirky on the ground (he’s not at all dangerous), he is head shy and gets a little worried about things not in his everyday routine (more than happy to go into more detail😁). He’s an absolute gentleman, and even better at shows. I’ve had horses rear and strike out at him in warm up and he couldn’t care less. Ernie is extremely safe, I have put an eight year old on him walk, trot, canter, and although he can get a little strong jumping he will always come back. Has no rear, buck, bolt or any silly business, he takes his job very seriously. This horse has an absolute heart of gold, and will try and try until he physically can’t. He knows voice commands, and is known to read minds in dressage lessons. Although he is a big boy and very drafty, I am barely 5’4” and he is very respectful and doesn’t take advantage. He truly is a jack of all trades, as I could see him being a lower level event horse, dressage winner, and dabble in small jumper classes. I absolutely adore this horse and it kills me to even write this but ultimately I don’t think he has the same ambitions in eventing as I do, and would be more comfortable at 3 foot and below or as a fun and very safe dressage horse. Ernie had surgery 2 year ago, as he was kicked in the splint in a pasture incident, and had to have the pieces of his splint removed in his left hind. This does not, and has not impacted his work or day to day life in any capacity. He also has shivers which is only noticeable for farriers. I normally give him .6 dorm for when the farrier gets to his hind legs and he is completely fine. He is just finishing a round of adequan and had steroid injections done in march. He does require some maintenance as he does have mileage on him. Again more than happy to go into more detail as to what I do for him😁.
