"Pollo d'Oro" is a 2019 restarted OTTB gelding
He is easy to handle, good around dogs and other animals, good with loud noices, water, baths, lunging, stands tied, stands for tacking up and mounting. Great for the farrier, and vet. Trailers in a slant or straight load with ease.(Have videos) Overall he has a very friendly happy-go-lucky gelding personality. Loves to hang out and get scratches.
He was restarted as a trail horse in 2025, made the transition easily. He is relaxed and happy to walk flat footed down the trail. Responds well to cues, learns and adapts quickly. He is soft and responsive in a snaffle, and has a solid start to continue being a trail horse or begin a career in performance/arena work. He has been trail ridden since the racetrack, and has not seen an arena since.
Teeth floated August 2025, clean bill of health and up to date on all vaccines and wormer. Keeps weight well on alfalfa hay, does need shoes if trail ridden.
He does have some old scar tissue from a trailer injury per previous owner, radiographed clean and did race clean post injury. No lameness issues from it, even with 10+ mile rides.
He has been minimally ridden over the winter, and is currently in a pasture with no round pen, and no saddle.
You are welcome to ride him if you bring a saddle that fits reasonably well.
