Little Bit Risky (“Harry”)
2022 OTTB Gelding | 17hh | Vermont
Harry is a truly special young Thoroughbred with an exceptional brain, kind heart, and unlimited potential. Standing 17 hands as a four-year-old—and having grown from 16’3” to 17hh in just the past three months—he is a stunning athlete who is still maturing. He had 22 starts on the track, and retired the first week of January 2026.
Harry has spent the past several months developing a correct foundation on the flat while gaining valuable off-property experience. Although still green, he is incredibly willing, intelligent, and eager to learn. He has recently begun jumping and is in training as an event prospect, but I believe he has the talent and temperament to excel in eventing, the hunters, jumpers, or dressage.
Despite his age, Harry has proven himself to be remarkably level-headed. He spent a week away at a horse show and handled the entire experience like a seasoned horse. He settled in beautifully, experienced a busy warm up arena, and even happily hacked out alone.
On the ground, Harry is a gentleman. He has excellent manners, is respectful of personal space, and responds to light pressure on the lead rope. He understands walk, trot, and canter cues on the lunge and has also been educated in long lining and free lunging. He is good to be ponied, stands calmly to be bathed and clipped, and is nonchalant about dogs and cats running around.
Harry enjoys trail riding both alone and with company and is equally content living in a stall or turned out with or without other horses. His easygoing nature makes him a pleasure to have in the barn. He is not spooky and is casual but curious when taken to new environments.
One thing that has impressed me most about Harry is his willingness to learn. When he first arrived, trailer loading was difficult, and it was clear he had developed anxiety surrounding trailers. Through patient, consistent training, he now walks onto my two-horse straight-load trailer with confidence and can be loaded alongside another horse. Watching him overcome this challenge has been a testament to just how trainable and trusting he is. Currently he is learning to self load.
Beyond his athletic ability, Harry is simply the sweetest horse in the barn. He genuinely enjoys people and wants to be everyone’s friend. He loves scratches, cuddles, and affection, and if you sit with him while he’s resting, he’ll happily lay his head in your lap. He’s a giant lap dog in a horse’s body and has the kind of personality that makes people fall in love with him instantly.
Harry is up to date on vaccinations, coggins, farrier care, dentistry, and bodywork. He has no vices and requires no maintenance beyond plenty of hugs, scratches, and treats.
While Harry is still a young OTTB, who may act immature every once in a while when he’s feeling unsure, and will benefit from continued education, his quiet disposition and willing attitude make him a wonderful prospect for a junior
