Rate was given a “let down” period and the entered professional training to rehabilitate from his long and successful career at the track. He has come a long way emotionally and is enjoying learning how to stretch and relax after a life of high pressure and explosive power. He is naturally very well balanced, proficient in his ground work, and is becoming increasingly steady and responsive in his work under saddle.

Rate travels sound and has lovely gaits. He’s built beautifully uphill and has a fabulous canter. He would make an excellent partner for someone interested in continuing his education in dressage, trail or pleasure riding, and possibly jumping.

He stands quietly for grooming, saddling, bathing, the farrier, and veterinary care. He ties well, loads and hauls easily, stands patiently for mounting, and willingly sides over to a fence or mounting block and quietly waits for his rider.

Rate is best suited for a confident, experienced rider who appreciates developing a talented horse rather than expecting a finished one. He’s also ideal for a talented student under the guidance of a trainer.

Like many horses confined for long periods, Rate developed a cribbing habit earlier in life, but this behavior has reduced substantially with his change of lifestyle.

This is no ordinary OTTB. He is exceptionally smart and beautiful with outstanding conformation and a majestic presence. He has a serious work ethic and a bright future ahead of him with thoughtful leadership and a loving home.

If you’re the kind of a horse person who enjoys the satisfaction of helping a horse become the best version of himself, Rate may be exactly the horse you’ve been waiting for.

Currently in a relationship-based training program emphasizing relaxation, confidence, and clear communication.
