Searching for a fun hunter/ low level eventer/ all around pony with a change? Rook is your guy!
Rook is a 6 year old 14.2 mustang gelding looking for a new pasture! He would be the perfect horse for a good junior or adult amateur to do all the things. He has solid barrel that takes up leg (rider in the majority of videos is 5’9”).
Rook has three cute gaits and a lovely shape over fences. He is super fun to jump; very game and brave. He also has an easy lead change. He is currently schooling starter/bn height at home. Rook has been extensively hauled to local shows - jumper rounds, combined tests and 3 phases, fun shows and working equitation. He finished his first starter on his dressage score. He is the same pony on and off property, no lunging required. He hauled to xc school for the first time in a while last month and was an absolute gentleman. Water, banks, ditches were no problem and he hacks around on the buckle. Rook also was 11th in the Mustang Classic last year held at the Kentucky Horse Park.
I think Rook would shine as a local hunter or event pony. He’s happy to pop around a course one day, and hack around the property bareback in a halter the next day. He’ll even go bridleless! Rook is a forward ride, so won’t suit a super timid rider. He isn’t ready yet for the teach to canter/jump job yet, so will not suit those types either. He was lovely for the junior that I had come sit on him for some video! He would be able to be finished out by a solid kid in a program. I also think he’d be a great fit for an adult looking for a fun ride to dabble in a bit of everything.
Rook is very simple on the ground. Leads, loads, ties, is good for the farrier, etc. He is barefoot and lives out in a gelding herd. He’s also just as happy to have a stall. Very easy keeper. I just adore this pony, so a good fit is a must!
