Moki is the epitome of what comes to mind when you picture a classic American Quarter Horse gelding! First, there’s that gorgeous buckskin color—because who doesn’t love a buckskin? Add in his beautiful conformation, proportional build, great feet, and thick mane and tail, and he has the kind of look that immediately catches your eye. His pedigree is equally impressive, with legendary names like Doc O’Lena and Boonlight Dancer right on his papers.
As much as we love the way Moki looks, his disposition may be even better. He’s gentle, willing, and easy to get along with on the ground or in the saddle. He’s quiet enough to comfortably carry the kids, but he isn’t a horse you’ll outgrow as your riding ability progresses. When an experienced rider asks for more, Moki is happy to step up and show just how much ability he has. It’s a hard-to-find combination—a horse that can take care of a less experienced rider while still being responsive and athletic for an accomplished horseman.
Moki is just as comfortable working cattle as he is riding in the arena. He enjoys having a job and is great around cows. Whether checking fences, moving cattle, or riding across the pasture, he settles right into whatever you ask of him.
In the arena, Moki neck reins beautifully, lopes gorgeous circles, and has a great stop. He’s responsive without being overly sensitive and has the mechanics, athletic ability, and trainability to go in virtually any direction. We think he would be an especially fun ranch riding horse, but his ability certainly doesn’t limit him to one discipline.
We’ve put Moki through our entire obstacle course, and he approaches everything with the same willing attitude. He crosses water, handles logs and obstacles, and takes new challenges in stride. He learns quickly and thinks his way through what you’re asking. Those qualities translate beautifully to the trail, where he listens to his rider and confidently tackles whatever comes along.
Moki simply checks a lot of boxes. He has the looks and pedigree, a wonderful disposition, and the training and athletic ability to keep things interesting. He can slow things down and take care of the kids, then give an experienced rider plenty of horse when asked.
