This what happens when you fall in love at first sight and then realize you aren’t 25 or 40 and you are heading into your 70th year (yikes!) with a very strong horse. He is gorgeous and he is a beautiful mover but he is not an old lady’s horse or a kid horse. He is a horse who needs your direction or he will direct you. Put a strong rider on him and he is such a beautiful thing to watch. He looks at me and says, “ ohhhh, she hasn’t been on a horse for 45 years, goody!”
I won’t let him go to just anyone. He has my heart. I will feed him, love on him and get him training for as long as it takes but he needs someone who will help him meet his potential, as much as that makes me cry.
Do you want to float along with his working trot having him do all the work? How about the canter where you imagine yourself in a green velvet flowing dress trailing in the wind? He loves a trail ride but prefers to follow at this point.
