Meet Genuine Gem, affectionately known as “G,” a handsome 6-year-old AQHA registered grullo gelding standing a stout 14.3¾ hands tall. With his striking grullo coloring, bold zebra-striped legs, and athletic build, G is the kind of horse that draws attention everywhere he goes. More importantly, he possesses the training, experience, and versatility that make him far more than just a pretty face.
G is a true all-around gelding that has been used and enjoyed in a variety of settings. He is broke to ride, broke to drive, and even knows a few tricks, making him a versatile partner that offers plenty of enjoyment both in and out of the saddle. Whether you're looking for a dependable trail horse, a fun arena mount, or a horse capable of tackling a variety of jobs, G is ready to step up to the task.
Under saddle, G is exceptionally versatile and rides very well both Western and English. English riders will appreciate his softness, responsiveness, and willingness to work. He rides quietly in a simple snaffle, moves willingly off leg pressure, and has the kind of natural balance and responsiveness that make him enjoyable to ride. He stays soft through his body, willingly bends and yields, and offers a comfortable ride whether you're working in the arena or heading out on the trails.
Switch him over to Western tack and G remains just as enjoyable. He has a solid foundation and understands his job well. He picks up his leads, stops willingly, backs easily, and offers a nice turnaround. He side-passes, works quietly around obstacles, and has had ropes swung off him and objects dragged behind him. His ranch-minded attitude and willingness to learn make him a horse that can easily transition between pleasure riding, trail riding, ranch work, and recreational activities.
One of G's most appealing qualities is his experience outside the arena. He has spent countless hours on the trails and has been ridden by riders with varying levels of experience. He has a forward-moving walk that comfortably covers ground without needing to be constantly pushed along, making him an enjoyable partner for long rides and trail adventures.
G confidently rides out alone and doesn't rely on other horses for confidence. He is equally content leading a group, riding in the middle, bringing up the rear, or separating from the group altogether. He stays level-headed and focused regardless of where he finds himself in the lineup.
Over the years, G has been exposed to a wide variety of situations and environments. He has encountered wildlife, livestock, ATVs, farm equipment, and the many unexpected sights and sounds that come with real-world trail riding. He takes new experiences in stride and approaches unfamiliar situations with a willing attitude.
