2018 KWPN registered mare by Colonist (Vulcano–Patijn), approximately 16hh, bred by Bailey Ranch Breeders in Texas, a program focused on producing expressive, rideable horses for dressage and sport. Knoxy is a striking, beautifully presented mare with real presence, naturally uphill movement and three expressive quality gaits. She is an accomplished First Level horse with scores around 70%, and is confidently schooling Second Level work including lateral movements, increased collection and developing carrying power. She is a remarkably quick study and has been thoughtfully produced with an emphasis on correct basics, balance and rideability. Knoxy is light to the aids, responsive without requiring constant leg, and has the kind of suspension and expression that make her stand out in the arena. Her newest video also shows increasingly good ability to sit, shorten and carry, rather than simply producing flashy front-end movement. At home, Knoxy is sweet, sensible and genuinely enjoyable to ride. She is forward-thinking and responsive, so she will suit a confident rider who appreciates a sensitive, intelligent horse rather than one who needs to be manufactured every stride. She has been exceptionally sound and low-maintenance throughout my ownership, with no history of lameness or soundness-related veterinary treatment. Knoxy also produced one lovely foal, accounting for a two-year break in her riding career before returning to full work. Baseline radiographs from her purchase in 2021 are available and buyers are welcome to perform a full PPE and updated imaging. She would be a particularly exciting horse for an ambitious adult amateur or junior looking for an eye-catching, talented mare with quality movement, a strong work ethic and plenty of scope to continue progressing through the levels.
