If you have been waiting for one that checks all the boxes, meet Nuala Rose. And as an added bonus, she’s not coming alone! Nuala Rose is currently around 5 months in foal to Bentinck Acres “Smoky Boy” (GV11879P), a 56-inch GVHS-registered Gypsy stallion, for an early 2027 foal.
Nuala Rose is a 4-year-old, 14-hand registered Gypsy mare who has quickly become the reason I look forward to saddling up and going riding. For only being four years old, this mare has an incredible mind and is as laid back and easygoing as they come. If you didn’t know her age, you’d almost think she was 20 years old by the way she acts. She has that quiet, seasoned attitude you normally expect from a horse with many more years and miles under their belt. She has the sweetest personality and absolutely loves attention. I truly think if she could crawl right in your pocket, she would!
If you’re looking for a trail horse deluxe, Nuala Rose is exactly that. I have taken her on countless camping and trail riding trips, and she handles everything that comes her way with ease. She will cross water, logs, ditches, and other trail obstacles without hesitation. She is happy to ride with a group or head out on her own and is the kind you can relax and enjoy the ride on. I have also used her to check cattle, and she takes it all in stride.
Nuala Rose has also been around exotic animals, and just like everything else I have introduced her to, she handled it extremely well. New sights, different surroundings, and unusual animals don’t seem to bother her. She has proven time and time again that she has a level head and a willing attitude no matter what you ask of her.
Under saddle, Nuala Rose has a nice, smooth trot and lope that are comfortable and enjoyable to ride. She picks up both leads and transitions nicely into her lope.
Not only is Nuala Rose a pleasure to ride, but she drives the very best. She stands quietly to be harnessed and is easy and enjoyable to drive. She has even been harnessed and driven by total novice teamsters and has been patient and forgiving while they learn. Whether you want to saddle up and hit the trails or hook her up and go for a drive, she is willing and ready for the job.
On the ground, Nuala Rose is just as enjoyable to be around. She picks up all four feet, stands well for the farrier, loads, ties, bathes, and is easy to handle. She is always the first one to meet you at the gate and can be caught anywhere in the pasture. There’s no chasing her around or playing the “you can’t catch me” game. Most of the time, she’s already coming to you before you even have the halter ready! She truly enjoys being around people and will take all the attention you’re willing to give her.
