Kontrary Kate or Kit Kat as she is known in the barn is a 16 hand (approximately) Thoroughbred mare by Zip Quik out of Formal Miss, who was an exceptional athlete. She had a short race career and a solid let down period. Kit Kat has a big stride and presence under saddle. Kit Kat has a big personality and wants someone who can really provide direction both on the ground and under saddle, she has been in training with us for the past couple of months and we feel she has made tremendous progress both on the ground and under saddle. She has a strong personality and can both lack confidence and be flighty when she gets into a situation she feels insecure by. She hasn't bucked or reared, but she will get extremely strong and needs a rider who can disengage her if she gets strong and channel her energy and focus. Although Kit Kat is learning how to half halt, she needs a quiet, confident and extremely experienced rider who can bring out her potential. Kit Kat has three lovely gates when she relaxes and when she finds a connection with her rider, She has lovely confirmation which may also make her a perfect both broodmare and riding prospect and I feel that in the right program she has the potential to really go in any direction. Kit Kat does aim to please but doesn't always know what is expected of her. She not only thrives on repetition but soft, firm and confident repetition. She would benefit from continued training on the flat before starting over fences although she has jumped small jumps in the past. Kit Kat is an easy keeper and is ready to find a person that can help finish her training and bring out her best potential. The owner is motivated and wants to find her the very best home.
