Jazzin Warpaint is a 8 year old overo paint horse standing at about 15.3 hands. She’s a horse who loves and needs a job. Jazz is mainly ridden western and she has nice, smooth gaits.
We are not claiming she is unflappable, but she has been exposed to quads, cars and trucks, tractors with implements, dirt bikes, lawnmowers, chainsaws, gunshots and lots of windy barn noises and trees falling down nearby. She is very curious about it all and usually does not spook unless there too many of these all at once. In the Spring/Summer of 2022 we started her with groundwork and very light riding with a trainer (she was a late starter) and then she had the winter off.
Spring and summer of 2024 we took Jazz to Tom Reed Horsemanship and he did a great job continuing her training and getting good solid W/T/C Stop and backing, and the beginnings of side passing . She did well on the obstacle course and enjoys the challenge. She will make an awesome trail Challenge mount. Training restarted spring of 2025. She can be a stinker in the arena, but so far, she is awesome on the trails. She has been to a working equitation clinic at Washington State Horse Park, and did well there. We have also been on small group trail rides near the Puyallup river, out on the Danville trails and she completed the long ride at the Pierce County Backcountry Horsemens group ride at Nicholson Horse Trails near Elbe. Jazz led the group most of the way and led across bridges and a stream.We recently went on a ride where we rode straight through a herd of elk twice without any issues. Jazz has also been exploring Pack Forest and Capitol Forest. This is NOT a beginners horse nor a Husband horse, she is bold and needs a steady job and clear boundaries. Our next adventure will be playing with cattle this winter and if she take to this, her value will go up accordingly.we are currently taking a training break and preparing for winter, and nobody is being worked until Novemebr. Jazz is a nicely bred Paint, both parents are registered APHA but I was not able to obtain a breeders cert, I DO have photocopies of both Sire (warpaint sunshine) and Dams (robin painted me too) registration.This mare is on Mare Magic year round. If you're looking for a horse with spunk and that loves new territory and challenges, she is your girl.We have about 150 hours of riding on her this last spring/summer. Tack is available to go with her. We will trade for a nice gelding husband horse.
