You know how sometimes animal shelters advertise a dog for adoption that would make a great jogging partner, adventure buddy and hiking pal, but not a lap dog? That's Canyon. He is an exceptionally sweet and cuddly adventure pal.
Do you like to ride once a week, with a horse you can pull out of the pasture & throw a leg over?
Canyon is NOT for you.
Do you like to ride once a month in a big ol' western saddle and do nothing but throw your horse & tack on the trailer?
Canyon is NOT for you.
Do you like a horse that you grandma or toddler can get on when you forgot that you even have a horse?
Canyon, and I cannot stress this enough, IS NOT FOR YOU.
Canyon wants to work. He wants attention. All of it. He's like a hyperactive yellow lab that wants you to throw the ball. And again tomorrow. And again on Thursday. But then he gets tired. And relaxed. And becomes the well mannered extra extra good boy you've always wanted.
Did you keep him in the house for 4 days over the holiday weekend? He's gonna metaphorically eat the sofa.
He is a sleepy pug with the need for exercise of a border collie. He wants to cuddle like a pomeranian when he has enough exercise.
No stall vices. Good manners. Ties and crossties great and excellent for the farrier - barefoot! Loads in 30 seconds but you need a friend to shut the door behind you. And he thinks he's some kind of trust fund baby because he prefers the 4h LQ over the 3h slant. 😒
Sorry western riders...he loves an English saddle. He *tolerates* endurance and despises a western saddle with a skirt so dont even text me.
If you're looking for a super sweet, fun, well mannered guy WHO NEEDS EXERCISE, you will adore him. He schools 2', trail rides in a group or hacks alone (see above note about the trailer door). He's schooling lateral movement in dressage and has naturally balanced gaits. If you're a teen and ride him 5 days a week, you'll love him. If you're an older adult and ride 5 days a week and want to fox hunt, you'll love him. UTD on coggins, vax, dental, sheeth. Video available.
Want to drink and ride? Ask yourself:
✅️ Is my drunk butt in an English saddle?
✅️ Have I ridden him several days this week already?
Then YES.
IF NOT? CANYON IS NOT FOR YOU.
