Atticus is a 19yo Cleveland Bay Sporthorse who showed in mid/upper level dressage in his youth. A shoulder injury and a stint as an older lady’s trail horse later, he’s now a very safe beginner lesson horse with some fancy buttons hiding in there if you can convince him that you know that he knows how to do the things. Atticus is arguably the safest and most tolerant horse we’ve had, and has lovely gaits that students find comfortable and easy to learn on. These days he doesn’t show above WT classes because one canter lead bothers his shoulder, but he still has all his lateral work even up through a somewhat rusty canter half pass. If you or your child thinks it sounds cool to get to do your Intro tests (or WT division hunter/eq) on a horse who’s done upper level dressage, or you’re a dressage rider who doesn't want to show but would like the chance to play with fun buttons at home, this is absolutely your guy. He’ll putter around at home, pack you around a show, trail ride, give your grandkids pony rides… At 15.3 and a thicker warmblood, he is sturdy without being intimidatingly tall, and did we mention he’s a kick ride? He is offered for on-site half lease only as he is a valued part of our lesson program.
